Govt. Girls Model Sr. Sec. School Sec-20 B was established in the year 1960. The School comes under the purview of Education department, an efficient component of the Chandigarh Administration. It is one of the three all girls schools in Chandigarh. The school located in the heart of the city is housed in a grand building consisting of three well lit and well ventilated blocks amidst lush green and huge playgrounds.
School Education is the very foundation on which the modern society stands. Its importance is well recognized by one and all. The Govt. of India is hugely concerned in this regard and all efforts are being made to reach just about every child in the country through RTE.
Education is a lifelong dynamic process which starts with the birth of a child and continues well through his/her life. It is the responsibility of the educators who are aptly called facilitators in the modern parlance to mould the innocent minds of young students to carry on smoothly in the given social set up. Education in the modern world equips a child to innovate, to explore the world around him and to learn new skills. It enables him/her to become a thoughtful and responsible member of the society.
This being an all girls school, our focus of attention is to make the girls proud of their being. We do our utmost to make the girls self reliant, confident and ready to take on the world and contribute to this society in a meaningful way. The girls are taught to take complete responsibility of self and are also guided to sensitize their male siblings at home so that they learn to treat all women with respect and dignity. Its a small effort to balance the gender bias in the society.
